How it all started
In 1993, the family business Gelis BV was founded by the current manager Peter Desmet. In the early years, Gelis BV focused on supplying safety solutions for various sectors and industries. What started with supplying PPE grew over the years into a specialisation in eyewash and emergency safety showers to meet the increasing need in the Belgian market.
Since 2005, we have specialised our business in supplying high-quality eyewashes and emergency safety showers from the Hughes Safety Showers brand. The Netherlands and France later followed as important sales markets.
The increasing demand for maintenance on safety showers ensured that we have specialised maintenance teams since 2010. Gelis BV's position as a total supplier in the market has strengthened by setting up these maintenance teams

As the exclusive distributor for the Benelux and France of Hughes Safety Showers, Europe’s largest manufacturer of eye and emergency showers, we offer high-quality products that are crucial in emergency situations. We have a thorough and accurate knowledge of our products, understanding not only the technical aspects of them, but also the standards and regulations that apply. That is why we are the only company in our market that specialises entirely in eyewashes and emergency safety showers, without offering other safety equipment.
